Grey Topper remembered.

Here's a request from Tony Hill – author of If The Kids Are United (‘the working-class Fever Pitch’) published by Victor Gollancz and reprinted by Orion.

I’m from a Nottinghamshire pit village called Jacksdale, once home to legendary (and infamous during the punk years) music venue The Grey Topper. Sadly the building is currently being demolished, so me and a local historian are trying to put together the history of the place (it started out as a picture palace/music hall). It seems a bit surreal now that the likes of Bill Haley, The Sweet, early Adam and the Ants, Simple Minds, The UK Subs, Toyah, The Ruts (shortly before singer Malcolm Owen died of a drug overdose) and Ultravox played in a mining village. I’d love to ask any of the UK Subs if they can remember playing there (or hear from fans who saw them there). Any copies of a tour poster (or ticket) with The Grey Topper on would be great. Thanks - email gordonhill76@hotmail.com

Welcome to the new revamped site. A huge thanks to John Joh at Negative Image for putting it all together. The New Red Archives Punk site is mostly the same, but all the old links are now deleted and it's a bit easier to navigate.

Coming in the center of the New Red Archives Media front page will be our new Audio book division - that'll take a while as we are still in production, but watch out for some info which will be coming over the next few weeks.

On the right hand side are Chamber Pop records (a kind of lounge/pop label) and 1305 Unterharz (Coming sometime) our prog. label.
